Blood tests, where requested, are arranged and charged separately. There are no add-on charges for examinations or clinical documentation produced as part of your care.

Blood tests at Tamar Health are charged in two parts: the appointment fee, which covers the clinician’s time and result review, and the individual test costs, which are priced per test or as a panel. Tests are processed by an accredited laboratory. Results are typically available within 24–72 hours, reviewed by your clinician with a plain-English explanation.
How blood test pricing works
The appointment fee is collected at the time of booking. Individual test costs are confirmed when you discuss your requirements with the clinician — either at booking or at the appointment itself. You will always know the full expected cost before any test is taken.
| Item | Fee | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Blood test appointment | From £25 | Covers clinician time, sample taking and result review with explanation |
| Individual blood tests | Priced per test | Charged in addition to the appointment fee. See our blood tests page for current prices. |
| Test panels and bundles | Combined rate | Commonly requested tests are available as bundled panels. Ask at the time of booking. |
How payment works
Paying for your appointment
All appointment fees are collected at the time of booking. We accept all major debit and credit cards. There are no booking fees or administration charges on top of the appointment fee. Your booking is confirmed once payment is received.
Private prescriptions
If your clinician prescribes medication during your appointment, this is issued as a private prescription through our digital prescribing system. There is a £2 prescription administration fee per prescription, which is charged as part of the service and collected at the time of booking or at the appointment. The medication itself is taken to a pharmacy of your choice and paid for directly. The cost varies by medication and pharmacy. Most common short-course medications are reasonably priced at most pharmacies.
Referral letters and clinical reports
Referral letters to consultants or specialists, and clinical summaries produced during your appointment, are included in your consultation fee at no additional charge. There is no separate charge for documentation produced as part of your care.
Frequently asked questions about fees
Are your fees the same for all patients?
Yes — our fees are fixed regardless of your age, health history or reason for attending. There are no variable or means-tested charges. The price confirmed at booking is the price charged.
Why is payment taken at booking?
Taking payment at the time of booking helps us manage appointment availability fairly and ensures your slot is reserved. All fees are confirmed in full before you pay — there are no surprises on the day.
Do you accept private health insurance?
We are not currently registered with private health insurance providers. All appointments are self-pay. We recommend checking with your insurer, as some policies offer partial reimbursement for self-pay private appointments — however, we are unable to process insurance claims directly.
Are blood test costs included in my consultation fee?
No — blood test costs are separate from and additional to your consultation fee. The consultation fee covers the clinician’s time, examination and result review. Individual test costs are charged on top of this. We always confirm the full expected cost before proceeding.
What if I need more than one issue addressed?
Our AP consultation covers your primary concern and related queries within the appointment time. If your needs are more complex, we may recommend a routine AP appointment or lifestyle review, which is priced accordingly. You will never be charged more than the agreed fee without your knowledge.
What is the £2 prescription fee for?
We use a digital prescribing platform to issue private prescriptions safely and securely. The platform charges a small administration fee of £2 per prescription, which we pass on at cost. This covers the processing and transmission of your prescription — there is no mark-up on our part.
Is there a charge if I need to cancel or rearrange?
We ask for reasonable notice if you need to cancel or rearrange. Please contact us as soon as possible if you are unable to attend. Our cancellation policy is confirmed at the time of booking.
Do you charge for phone calls or admin queries?
Brief administrative queries — chasing a result, confirming an appointment or asking a quick question — are handled free of charge by our reception team. Clinical questions that require a clinician’s input may require a booked appointment.
