Booking and getting here
How do I book?
Book online with the Book Now button, or call 01752 938102. You do not need a GP referral.
How soon can I be seen?
We aim to see you within a week. Most people who need an urgent appointment are seen within 2 working days.
Are appointments face to face?
Yes. All appointments are in person at our Plymouth clinic.
Do you see children?
No. We see adults aged 18 and over.
Where are you?
Tor Clinical Rooms, 3 Darklake View, Plymouth PL6 7TL. There is free parking on site, and patients come from across Devon and Cornwall.
Your appointment
Who will I see?
Tim Needham, an Advanced Practitioner. You can read about his background on our Meet the Team page.
What should I bring?
Photo ID, a list of your medicines, and any previous results or letters that are relevant.
How much does it cost?
Every fee is on our Service Fees page, and blood test prices are on our price list. You see the price before you book.
Will you tell my GP?
Only with your consent. If you agree, we send a clinical summary to your NHS GP, as long as we have an email address for your surgery. Ear wax microsuction is the exception.
What does a health assessment include?
Extra measurements and a written summary of your results. We usually email the summary to you later the same day.
What if I need a scan?
We can refer you for a scan if you need one. The fee for the scan is paid directly to the hospital or clinic that carries it out.
Payment and cancellations
When do I pay?
When you book, you pay £25 for a blood test, £35 for ear wax microsuction, or £45 for a routine or urgent appointment. Any balance is paid in clinic. Health assessments are paid in full when you book.
What if I need to cancel?
If you cancel more than 5 days before your appointment, we refund you in full. Between 24 hours and 5 days before, we retain 50% of the fee. Under 24 hours, or if you do not attend, we retain the full fee. Please let us know as early as you can. Read our full cancellation policy.
Blood tests
Do I need a referral for a blood test?
No. Book a blood test on its own, or have bloods taken during a consultation.
Is there a blood draw fee?
A blood test booked on its own includes a £25 blood draw fee, paid when you book. If we take your bloods during a consultation, this fee is waived.
How do I get my results?
By email, usually the next working day. Some specialist tests take longer, and we tell you when you book. A clinician follows up anything abnormal.
Can my GP see my results?
Only if we send them. With your consent, we can send your results to your NHS GP if we have an email address for your surgery. Your GP cannot access any of the records we hold about you.
Referrals and insurance
Can you refer me to a specialist?
Yes, if you need it. A referral is a recommendation and you can say no. We can refer you privately to a consultant or hospital of your choice. For NHS referrals we write to your GP, who refers you through the NHS.
Will my insurance cover it?
It depends on your policy. Please check with your insurer before you book.
About us
Are you regulated?
Yes. Tamar Health is registered with the CQC. Our services are private, and we encourage you to stay registered with your NHS GP.
