Group of men, happy

Well Man Blood Test Panel

The Well Man blood test is designed to give you a clear, complete picture of your health — think of it as an annual service for your body. Rather than waiting for symptoms to appear, regular screening lets you spot changes early, understand how your key systems are performing, and make targeted changes before small issues become bigger ones.

Our Well Man profile covers the areas most relevant to men’s health and long-term wellbeing: heart health, metabolic function, hormone levels, thyroid, liver and kidney health, iron, prostate, and vitamin D. Your sample is processed by Nationwide Pathology, a UKAS-accredited UK laboratory, with results returned the next working day.

What’s included

The Well Man profile covers 11 key areas of men’s health in a single blood draw appointment. Here’s what each marker is checking and why it matters:

TestWhat it checksWhy it matters for men
Full Blood CountRed cells, white cells, platelets, haemoglobinDetects anaemia, immune issues, and general health baseline
Kidney FunctioneGFR, creatinine, urea, electrolytesKey baseline for men — kidneys are affected by diet, exercise, and medications
Liver FunctionLiver enzymes and proteins (ALT, AST, ALP, albumin)Affected by alcohol, diet, statins, and supplements — often silently
Cholesterol (Lipid Profile)Total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglyceridesMen are at higher cardiovascular risk earlier than women — essential annual check
HbA1cAverage blood sugar over 3 monthsScreens for pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes — very common and often symptomless early on
TestosteroneTotal testosterone level (nmol/L)Low testosterone causes fatigue, low mood, reduced libido, and muscle loss — often missed
Thyroid FunctionTSH and Free T4Thyroid dysfunction affects energy, weight, mood, and heart rate
Vitamin D25-OH vitamin D level (nmol/L)Deficiency is very common in the UK and linked to fatigue, low mood, and immune function
FerritinFerritin (iron stores)Low ferritin is a frequent cause of fatigue even without anaemia; elevated ferritin can indicate inflammation. Full iron studies can be added if indicated
PSAProstate-specific antigen (ng/mL)Elevated PSA can indicate prostate enlargement or, less commonly, prostate cancer — useful baseline from age 40
CRPC-reactive protein (inflammation marker)Raised CRP indicates systemic inflammation — linked to cardiovascular risk and lifestyle factors
PSA testing and age. PSA screening is most relevant from age 40 onwards, or earlier if there is a family history of prostate cancer. A single result is most useful as a baseline to track over time. Your clinician will discuss the result in context when reviewing your results.

Who is the Well Man test for?

This profile is suitable for any adult male who wants a clear picture of their health. You don’t need symptoms to benefit — many men use it as an annual check, a starting point after a period of poor health, or a baseline before making lifestyle changes.

  • Annual health check or “MOT”
  • Feeling tired, low in energy, or run down
  • Concerned about heart health or cholesterol
  • Family history of diabetes, heart disease, or prostate cancer
  • Low mood, reduced motivation, or libido changes
  • Struggling to lose weight or build muscle
  • Over 40 and wanting a prostate baseline
  • Starting a new diet, exercise programme, or supplement regime
  • Recently diagnosed with a condition and wanting a broader picture
  • Pre-50 health review

Your results

Results are returned the next working day by email, with a clinician summary included — we don’t just send numbers. Each marker is explained in plain language with a note on whether anything warrants follow-up. If anything needs urgent attention, we contact you the same day.

Follow-up appointments available. If your results raise questions or you’d like to discuss them in more detail, a follow-up consultation can be booked. Our clinicians can also advise on lifestyle changes, supplements, or whether further investigation is warranted.
