Tim Needham
Advanced Practitioner with over 25 years of NHS experience across emergency, urgent, and primary care. Founded Tamar Health to give patients the time, clarity, and access they deserve.
Background and experience
Tim spent over 20 years working in 999 emergency ambulance services, responding to the full range of medical and traumatic emergencies. That experience gave him a calm, structured approach to clinical decision making that runs through everything at Tamar Health. He also worked within Minor Injury Units during this period, developing hands-on skills in the assessment and management of acute injuries.
Since 2015, Tim has worked in NHS primary care, supporting patients with assessment, diagnosis, investigation, and treatment across both acute and long-term conditions. He has been performing ear microsuction for over seven years and has carried out minor surgical procedures since 2018, bringing significant procedural depth to the Tamar Health service.
Emergency and Urgent Care
Over 20 years in 999 services and urgent care, including Minor Injury Units. Tim responds to clinical uncertainty with the same structure and calm he developed on the frontline.
Primary Care
Working in NHS GP surgeries and out-of-hours services since 2015, managing acute presentations and long-term conditions with a thorough, patient-centred approach.
Procedural Expertise
Over seven years performing ear microsuction, and minor surgical procedures since 2018. Skilled, experienced, and practised in clinical techniques that need to be done well.
Education and Mentorship
Active mentor and supervisor for trainee Advanced Practitioners and new prescribers, supporting professional development, prescribing competence, and clinical confidence across the wider profession.
Leadership and Governance
Former senior NHS GP surgery manager with responsibility for service development, workforce, and clinical governance. Now Clinical Lead and CQC Registered Manager at Tamar Health.
Independent Prescribing
A qualified Independent Prescriber, Tim regularly manages safe and appropriate prescribing for patients across acute, urgent, and long-term conditions, with prescriptions issued digitally.
