Hair loss blood test · Plymouth
Find the treatable causes of hair loss.
Low Iron, Thyroid problems, low Vitamin D and hormone changes are common, and treatable once found. No GP referral needed.
Why test
A blood test can find or rule out a cause.
Hair loss is common and often upsetting. In many cases a blood test can find, or rule out, a treatable cause.
Low Ferritin is one of the most common and correctable causes of thinning, especially in women. Thyroid problems, low Vitamin D and Zinc, and raised androgens can also play a part.

What a blood test cannot do
Some hair loss, such as male or female pattern hair loss, is diagnosed by examination rather than a blood test.
The tests are most useful for finding conditions that cause hair loss or make it worse.
Your results
What your results mean.
If your results show low Iron, Vitamin D or Zinc, treatment is usually simple. Thyroid or hormone changes may need a follow-up or a referral.
If you would like to talk through your results or treatment options, you can book a follow-up appointment.
Blood tests give information. They do not diagnose a condition on their own. We explain your results in the context of your symptoms, medicines and history.
