Menopause Health Check

Menopause Health Assessment and Blood Tests

Menopause and perimenopause can affect women in very different ways. Symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats, poor sleep, low mood, anxiety, brain fog, fatigue, weight changes, joint aches, and irregular periods are common and can significantly impact day-to-day life. Understanding whether symptoms are hormonal, metabolic, or related to another health issue is an important first step toward effective treatment.

At Tamar Health, we offer two menopause testing options. A hormone-focused blood test for women seeking clarity around hormonal changes, and a comprehensive menopause health assessment that combines hormone testing with wider health screening and a dedicated in-person consultation.

Menopause Hormone Blood Test

The menopause hormone blood test focuses specifically on the hormones involved in the menopausal transition. This option is suitable for women who want an initial hormonal assessment or objective confirmation of perimenopause or menopause.

Hormones tested include Oestradiol, Follicle-Stimulating Hormone, Luteinising Hormone, Progesterone, Testosterone, Prolactin, Sex Hormone Binding Globulin, and Free Androgen Index. These results can help explain symptoms such as hot flushes, sleep disturbance, mood changes, cycle irregularity, and changes in energy or libido.

This option includes blood testing and a clinician review of results. It is priced at £75. While hormone results can be helpful, they do not always explain the full picture, which is why many patients benefit from wider testing and clinical review.

Comprehensive Menopause Health Assessment

The comprehensive menopause health assessment is designed for women who want a full evaluation of their symptoms and overall health. In addition to hormone testing, this option includes a wider range of blood tests and a in-person consultation to discuss results and treatment options in detail.

Alongside the hormone panel, this assessment includes Full Blood Count, Iron Studies and Ferritin, Thyroid Function, Vitamin D, inflammatory markers such as C-reactive protein, and Diabetes screening using blood sugar markers. These tests help identify common contributors to menopause symptoms, including: Iron Deficiency, Thyroid disorders, inflammation, vitamin deficiencies, or changes in blood sugar control, all of which can overlap with or worsen menopausal symptoms.

This option includes professional phlebotomy, laboratory analysis, full clinician review, and a 30 minute in person appointment to discuss results, symptoms, and management options. Treatment may include lifestyle advice, supplements, further investigation, or hormone replacement therapy where appropriate.

The comprehensive menopause health assessment is priced at £235.

Which option is right for you?

The hormone blood test may be suitable if you are early in your menopause journey and want an initial hormonal overview. The comprehensive assessment is recommended if symptoms are significant, long standing, or affecting quality of life, or if you are considering treatment such as HRT and want a thorough and personalised plan.
