A health assessment goes further than a standard check-up. We measure, ask and listen, then calculate your risk of heart disease and stroke over the next 10 years.
It suits anyone who wants a yearly health MOT, has a family history of serious illness, or simply wants to know where they stand.

Both are face to face with an Advanced Practitioner. Bloods can be added to either.

Blood tests are not included in any of these fees, but can be taken in the same appointment. The usual £25 blood draw fee is taken off, so you only pay for the tests. Prices are on our price list.

Your results come by email with a plain-English commentary. If they need more discussion, a phone call is included.

Before your appointment
If you are having blood tests that include cholesterol, please do not eat for 10 hours before. Water is fine. If fasting is hard because of a condition such as diabetes, tell us when you book and we will advise.

About the assessment
Are blood tests included?
No. Bloods are not included in the £100 fee, but can be taken in the same appointment. The £25 blood draw fee is taken off, so you only pay for the tests. Prices are on our price list.
What is a QRISK score?
QRISK is a tool used across UK primary care. It estimates your risk of a heart attack or stroke in the next 10 years, using things like your age, blood pressure, cholesterol, weight and family history.
How often should I have one?
Once a year suits most adults over 40, and anyone with a long-term condition or risk factors. We will advise what is right for you.
Before and after
Do I need to fast?
Only if you are having blood tests that include cholesterol. Then, please do not eat for 10 hours before. Water is fine.
Should I have a PSA test?
PSA is not a reliable screening test on its own, and the NHS does not recommend it for screening everyone. For you as an individual, though, it can be significant, and it is most helpful tracked over time. We can talk it through at your appointment.
Do I need to register with you?
No. Anyone can book. You stay registered with your NHS GP. Tamar Health is independent of the NHS, but with your consent we can send your GP a summary.
