General Blood Test in Plymouth

Our general health blood test in Plymouth covers the key markers your GP would typically check: Blood Count, Kidney and Liver Function, Cholesterol, diabetes indicators, inflammation, Iron stores, Vitamin D, and a urine test. It’s designed for patients who want a thorough health overview without a specific concern to investigate.

For patients who also want their Thyroid assessed and a relevant cancer marker checked, the Standard Screen Plus adds a full Thyroid antibody panel and either a prostate (PSA) or ovarian (CA-125) marker.

Both panels are carried out by one of our Advanced Practitioners, processed by our accredited laboratory (Nationwide Pathology), with results back the next working day.

Before your appointment: Fasting is recommended for both panels, because of the Cholesterol / Lipid Profile component. We suggest avoiding food and all drinks except water for 10 to 12 hours beforehand, though this is not essential. Please bring a urine sample with you, or be ready to provide one as soon as you arrive. All appointments must be booked in advance.
